As Coordinator of Department

Served as Coordinator of the Department (7th Jan 2016-16th April 2018). As coordinator performed the following significant task.

Creation of Dr. SR Ranganathan Seminar Hall

In 2019, one of the remarkable academic cum infrastructural activities was the creation of ‘Seminar Hall’. Need to had a seminar hall felt since long but due to one or the other administrative reasons could not materialize. The famous phrase ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ forced me to move forward to have a multipurpose seminar hall that could be used for organizing academic and cultural activities of the Department. In April 2018 in a Departmental Council meeting, when I had shared this idea by merging S-9 & S-10 rooms. Unfortunately, due to vehement resentment from my few colleagues, no consensus could be developed, hence, the idea was kept in abeyance. One day on my personal invitation the engineering team of the University has visited the Department, which in a way laid down the foundation of the seminar hall. On the advice of engineering officials, a detailed proposal sent through the office, fortunately, the same was approved at the end of March 2019. Due to ongoing classes of the academic session and in the larger interests of students, the required civil works for the creation of the seminar hall was postponed till the examinations got over.

But unfortunately, department once again was in a difficult phase, as the tenure of Prof. Mohan who was Heading the Department as Dean, Faculty of Arts was over and the new Head took over the charge of the department on 21st April 2019. To the best of my knowledge, on repeated requests from the engineering department, the then Head did not allow me to start the civil work. I was highly disappointed because all my rightful efforts seemed to be going in the drain by the indifferent and revengeful attitude of the then Head. But God is great and finally once again the Buddha's smile, the then Head in a very melodramatically without any genuine reason has resigned from the headship in the month of September 2019. Her move to self-relinquished from the post of Headship proved healthy and wealthy for the department and profession, as she was completely inefficient and incompetent as an academic administrator to run the department. Her resignation from the office of the head was a ray of hope for me to complete the unfinished agenda of the creation of a seminar hall. Taking advantage of this golden opportunity, with due permission of the then Dean, Faculty of Arts (who is statutory the administrative head of all the departments comes under the Faculty of Arts). Hence, the civil works was started and completed at the end of November 2019.

Finally on 27th December 2019, officially the seminar hall was inaugurated by the then Shri Siya Sharan, Finance Officer, University of Delhi, and Prof. SA Karim, Dean, Faculty of Arts in the august presence of distinguished personalities such as Prof. Inder Mohan Kaphay, Prof. NK Kakkar, Prof. Vinay Kumar, Prof. Geeta Bhatt, Director, NCWEB, Dr. Namita Rajput, Principal, Aurobindo College, Dr. GK Arora, Principal, AmbedkarCollege, Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal, Principal, PGDAV, Dr. Rama, Principal, Hansraj College, Dr. Balaram Pani, Principal, Bhaskaracharya College of Applied Sciences, Dr. Savita Roy, Principal, Daulat Ram College, Dr. RK Sharma, UNIC, Dr. PR Goswami, Prof. SP Singh, Dr. Surekha Kaul, Dr. Banwari Lal, Dr. RK Verma, teachers, students and research scholars the department. I would like to record here that the entire program was financially sponsored by the well-wishers of the department hence no amount was taken from the department and university.
